Is it for me?
The plan is to fast-hike & occasionally slow jog. If you are unsure if you will be suited please get in touch. It is excellent training and preparation for UTS UTMB, 14 Peaks Ultra, Dragon's Back Race, Welsh 1000m Peaks Race and any mountain ultramarathon.
Prerequisites
Experience of moving efficiently in the mountains, along with some experience of scrambling.
To give you an idea of fitness we have suggest the following basic minimum targets. Note these are only “ball-park” targets and don’t account for how you move over difficult terrain on tired legs. However most find these targets useful:
SWIFT (1st peak to last peak sub-13hr)
● Half-marathon: sub 1hr 30 min
● Marathon: sub 3hr 25 min
STEADY (1st peak to last peak sub-16hr)
● Half-marathon: sub 1hr 45 min
● Marathon: sub 4hrs
These targets are guidelines, and assume a relatively flat course. They are also no guarantee, the terrain and the ascent/descent is punishing.
